Wladimir Klitschko stops challenger HasimRahman in Round 7!
IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (52-3, 46 KOs) stopped former world champion and Lennox Lewis conqueror Hasim Rahman (45-7, 36 KOs) in the seventh round on Saturday night at SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany.
Klitschko was very confident from the start of the fight and manage to keep Rahman at a long distance then connecting his left and right jabs. The rock Rahman was not successful in reaching the taller Klitschko and was sluggish and slow. The boxer from Ukraine punished the rock to the rope in round three. In the beginning of the sixth round, Klitschko landed three successive left hooks that made Rahman tumbled to the deck. In the seventh round, Klitschko badly rocked “the rock” again that made referee Tony Weeks decide to end the fight. Although, Rahman argued to continue fighting, Weeks stopped the fight to consider that the Rock had taken lots of punishments throughout the fight.
After Klitschko’s successful defense against Rahman, a fight with Alexander Povetkin could be set in July 2009. Fights with the best of today’s heavyweights like David Haye and Chris Arreola are also considered.
